1. Who You Are – In a few sentences, tell us about yourself and/or your ministry and what you do to serve pastors.
My name is Barry Voss and my wife and I founded FaithLife Ministries in 2001 as a ministry to train pastors and church leaders in the majority world. We developed and teach courses on church leadership, management and discipleship for the church to help them become more effective in growing God’s Kingdom. We also provide a Children’s Ministry Training Resource book to help teachers create their own materials for teaching and discipling children.

2. Why Pastoral Leaders Matter – Why is training pastors a priority in your ministry or work?
We were called into this ministry by God to provide Biblical management training for pastors which is often minimal or not taught at all in Bible Schools and seminaries, especially in the majority world. While most pastors receive training on preaching and teaching God’s Word, teaching on leading and managing a church, which often is where they spend most of their time, is often neglected or non-existent. This type of training is needed to help pastors become more effective in making disciples and growing their churches.

3. Developing Pastor Trainers – How are you helping raise up new trainers of pastors where you serve?
After teaching our training for over a decade we finally realized the need to multiply our training through indigenous pastors. We discovered that they are better able to teach our training because they know their own culture and the needs of their churches. Our training is centered on Biblical principles that need to be applied differently in each nation and culture. Indigenous pastors are better able to do that than we are as Americans. We currently have a network of 126 pastors in 55 nations who teach our training, along with 12 Bible Schools and 4 other training ministries.

4. Better Together – Why does collaboration across pastor-training sectors matter to your work?
We would like to see our training included in more Bible Schools and in other formal and non-formal training ministries as part of their curriculums. We are simply a training provider seeking pastors and other training organizations who would teach our training, which is often lacking in many of those ministries. We are working to increase the awareness of our training and identifying potential users of our training.

5. Join the Work – How can others connect with you or get involved in what you’re doing?
The best way to connect with us is through our website at https://faithlifeministries.net. There they can request any of our training courses for FREE and also request to become one of our global trainers and teach our training within their ministries or spheres of influence.
